Rumpleteazer is a featured character. She is one half of a notorious thieving duo with Mungojerrie. The official description from the London Revival website described her and Mungojerrie as “Identical twins [who] work completely in-sync”. She is very upbeat and loves to cause a ruckus. She steals, smashes, and causes chaos, but rarely gets punished by humans and Jellicles alike. In the original version of Macavity, it’s implied that she worked for him at some point, but her name has since been removed from the song.
Her name was spelled as Rumpelteazer in the original poems, but Rumpleteazer became the more common spelling for the character in the musical. Both variations along with the rarer Rumpleteaser have been used in various productions.
Her three words are: “ Mischievous, Rambunctious, Ne'er-do-well” or “Naughty, Impressionable, Effervescent”
